Team
Rasta is a men's recreational league ice hockey team that plays
year-round at Floyd Hall Arena in Montclair, NJ.
The club was founded in 1999 by David Shiffman, who wanted to
unite all of his hockey-playing friends on one team. Culled from
those friends as well as talent he garnered from other local
teams and some good souls he met while playing open hockey at
various rinks, Team Rasta was put together with one goal in mind
- to enjoy the camaraderie and competition of men's ice hockey
without the egos, selfishness, whining and bickering that often
plague such teams. |

In a recent exhibition game, Ziggy
found himself breaking down the wing with
the puck and only the great one
back on D. Zig dropped his shoulder to fake a
drop pass to a trailing Brett Hull
and the great one bit! Ziggy slid behind him and
then went five hole on Eddie Mio
and scored!
After, an exchange of team hats and
cigars.

Cool quote:
"I drove every night
to the rink, my hockey bag stuffed in the trunk like a dead antelope,
and for two hours sucked in cold Zamboni fumes as if they were smoke
from a magic hookah..."
